Govt. Polytechnic College, Cherthala is a technical institution of excellence in the state of Kerala. This prestigious institution has been offering 3-year diploma courses of a unique kind in three creamy disciplines since 1997viz, Computer Hardware Maintenances, Electronics Production Technology and Electronics& Instrumentation. With a view to creating excellent academic proficiency from a utilitarian point of view, the syllabi of the courses are carefully designed giving a thrust to the needs of the present electronics, computer and general industries. The campus atmosphere of our institution is very much conductive to our excellent academic performance. Our top ranks at the state level at once synonymous with our glittering victory.

The vision of Govt. Polytechnic College is to endeavor for total quality management; the college will strive to achieve this vision by : Developing a team of dedicated and competent staff in appropriate learning environment. Strengthening industry-institutions relationship through mutually beneficial and constructive interaction. Strengthening community services through Human Resource Development. Technical services and support centers. By offering continuing and non formal education. By inculcating the qualities of leadership, personality development and good citizenship in the students. The institution is one of the main centers for the conduct of various public examinations in the district. The polytechnic college is located in an area of 1 acres, about 2 kms from Cherthala town on the Cherthala ALAPPUZHA road. The college has proximity to a large number of large and medium scale industries from Cochin (nearly 40 kms away).
Community Polytechnic Scheme
With the purpose of developing a regular interaction between the community and the technicians of the polytechnic community polytechnic is also working here. As part of this program, the facilities and manpower provide construction assistance to fulfill the needs of the community.
Yeoman service is provided through 5 extensive centers of the community polytechnic scheme. The activities include developing manpower and imparting technical knowledge and know-how in the fields of tailoring, food processing, and beauty care auto electrical works, cane cultivation in crafts and other vocational fields.
